Common questions

Get back to your countdown

These notes cover Teachin’ Time 3.0. Some controls and features differ in earlier versions.

How do I choose my school calendar?

Open Settings and use the school/calendar selection controls to choose your district and school. Version 3.0 includes British Columbia calendars for 2026–27. Check the selected school and year before relying on a countdown.

Why is my teaching-day count different?

Teaching-day countdowns depend on the selected calendar, instructional dates, excluded days and countdown settings. Check those first, including the time at which your daily countdown changes. A teaching-day count can differ from the number of calendar days until a holiday.

If something still looks wrong, email the school name and a link to its official calendar. School or district notices remain the authority for closures and schedule changes.

Why can’t I see Semester One?

Semester One appears only when the selected calendar supports it. It is not available for every school. In the 2026–27 Terry Fox Secondary calendar, the supported Semester One target is January 26, 2027.

Can I add a personal countdown or exclude a day?

Use the custom countdown controls to add your event and target date. Use the excluded-day controls to manage additional days that should not count. Review existing exclusions first so you do not try to exclude a date already covered by your school calendar.

My widget or Apple Watch shows an older count

Open Teachin’ Time on your iPhone and confirm its calendar and count first. Then reopen the Watch app or check the widget again. Keep the Watch paired and connected to your iPhone. Widget and complication updates are scheduled by Apple and may not appear immediately.

If a widget stays out of date, remove and add that widget again. If the issue continues, send screenshots of the app and widget or Watch showing the difference.

How do I change the weather location?

In Settings, find Weather Location. Choose Search to select a city or school, or Current to request your device’s location. Current requires location permission; searching for a place does not require access to your current location. Forecasts need an internet connection.

Why won’t trivia or images load?

These features use online services. Check your connection and try again later if a provider is unavailable. The bundled school calendars and local countdown calculations do not depend on those content services.

Can I reset my settings?

Settings includes Reset to Default. Read its confirmation carefully: it resets settings, wallpapers and custom countdowns. Record anything you want to keep before resetting. For a display or calendar question, contact support before deleting the app.

Missing school or calendar correction?

Email the school and district names, the school year and a public link to the official calendar. Explain the missing or incorrect date. Please do not send student records. Calendar coverage and supported countdowns vary by school.
