PRIVACY, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
Your countdowns.
Clear data choices.
How Teachin’ Time stores your settings, uses optional online features and handles support requests.

Who provides the app
Teachin’ Time is developed by Dan Tilsley. You do not need an account to use the app. It does not include advertising trackers or a third-party analytics SDK, and it does not upload your countdowns or selected wallpaper to a developer-operated server.
Some features connect directly to outside services. Those services receive the information needed for the request, as described below.
Information stored on your devices
Your selected school and calendar, countdown names and dates, excluded days, preferences, selected weather location, and chosen wallpaper are stored locally. The app also caches some downloaded content. A photo you choose for a wallpaper is saved in the app’s local storage; it is not uploaded by Teachin’ Time.
Countdown information is shared with the app’s widgets and Live Activities on your device. Apple’s WatchConnectivity transfers countdown information to your paired Apple Watch for its app and complication. Device backups may include app data according to your Apple settings.
Weather, location search and maps
Weather requests send the latitude and longitude of the selected weather location to Open-Meteo. This may be a place you searched for or your device’s location if you choose Current and grant permission. Location access is requested while using the app; the app does not continuously track your location in the background.
Place searches, map display and finding a place name from coordinates use Apple’s location and mapping services. Apple receives the relevant search or location information. You can search for a city or school instead of granting access to your current location, and you can change location permission in your device’s Settings.
Open-Meteo receives your IP address with the request. Its policy says technical logs may include geographic coordinates and are deleted after 90 days. See Open-Meteo’s privacy terms and Apple’s privacy information.
Optional trivia and images
Education News is removed in version 3.0. Earlier versions that include news feeds contact your enabled publishers when you open that feature; those publishers receive normal connection information such as your IP address and the feed requested.
When you use online content, the app contacts the relevant provider directly: Open Trivia Database for trivia categories and questions, NASA for Astronomy Picture of the Day, and XKCD for comics. Loading linked images or videos may contact their respective hosts.
These providers receive normal connection information such as your IP address and the content requested. Trivia requests include the selected game options, such as category and difficulty; the app does not send your personal countdowns or wallpaper with them. External pages and media follow their providers’ own privacy policies. You can avoid these requests by not opening the corresponding online feature.
Support email
If you email support, Dan receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, through the email service used for support. Send only what is needed to explain the issue. This information is used to respond and troubleshoot.
You can request deletion of your support correspondence by emailing teachintimeapp@gmail.com. This is separate from the settings and countdowns stored on your devices, which support cannot access remotely.
Your choices and removal of data
You can edit or delete personal countdowns, change your wallpaper and weather location, and adjust preferences in the app. Reset to Default resets settings, wallpapers and custom countdowns; review its confirmation before proceeding.
Deleting the app removes its app-local data from that device. Offloading an app can retain its data. Remove the companion app from Apple Watch separately if needed, and manage retained device backups through your Apple settings. Revoking location permission prevents new device-location requests but does not automatically erase a previously saved weather location; choose a different location in the app to replace it.
